Legacy EV In-Person Educational Training Class

Golden, CO June 19, 2023 – This summer, industry professionals, classic car enthusiasts, and electric vehicle (EV) advocates will gather in Golden, CO, for the second annual State of Charge educational conference, presented by Ωhm On The Range and Legacy EV. Ahead of the event, Legacy EV is offering a one week, in-person Certified Technician Program at the Colorado School of Mines, running July 31st through August 3rd. After the training, students will also attend State of Charge on August 4th and 5th. The training program is designed to walk learners through the basics of an EV system. Learners will mount, wire, program, commission, tune, and practice fault finding in various EV systems using fully functional EV training benches. Interested individuals can sign up on the event website.

This is the first time Legacy EV’s Certified Technician Program will be offered in-person outside of the Phoenix, AZ area. The program aims to help mechanics embrace the future of EVs. Upon completing the program, participants will be able to communicate the topic of EV tech successfully with customers and stakeholders, convert a gas-powered car to a battery electric power, successfully build a custom electric vehicle, be a part of Legacy EV’s authorized installer network, and work effectively with Legacy EV design engineers on build support and design consultation.

The ensuing event, State of Charge 2023, builds on the success of the inaugural conference last year. “I’m thrilled to once again bring together EV professionals and enthusiasts from all over the country, to help educate others on the power of EV conversion for the second year in a row,” said Terry Breheny, founder of Ωhm on the Range. “Legacy EV’s Certified Technician Program is a great addition to this event, adding an in-depth, hands-on learning experience that will continue to promote the interest in building and servicing electric vehicles.”

“It is an honor to partner with Ωhm on the Range to make State of Charge 2023 a reality. Together, we have an opportunity to continue growing the EV conversion industry as we educate mechanics through our Certified Technician Program and bring people together for this great event,” said Mavrick Knoles, President and Co-Founder, Legacy EV.

State of Charge participants will hear from Luis Morales, Director of Vehicle Technology, SEMA; Jerome André, Editor-at-Large, EV Builder’s Guide; and Karen Salvaggio, VP, Scorpion EV. They’ll also learn from valuable “Behind the Build” examples of EV conversions—including two DeLoreans—as well as participate in multiple sessions to inform motor/battery selection, safety, training, and more. The event will conclude with La Vida Volta!, a public EV exhibition timed with the existing Golden Super Cruise featuring hundreds of classic cars and trucks.
