Gas Monkey Garage and Legacy EV Collaborate on “Testa”, the Ultimate Ferrari Electro-Mod Build

TEMPE, Ariz. – March 19, 2024  Gas Monkey Garage, renowned for its automotive craftsmanship and innovation, and Legacy EV, a leader in Electric Vehicle (EV) aftermarket applications and education programs, teamed up to build “Testa”, the ultimate Ferrari Electro-Mod. Starting with an original 1989 Ferrari Testarossa, the builders at Gas Monkey Garage turned the 35-year-old supercar into a modern EV making 300 horsepower and 386 ft. lbs of torque, which is more than its original V12 engine.

“It was a great experience collaborating with Richard Rawlings and his talented team at Gas Monkey Garage to build this Ferrari Electro-Mod,” said Rob Ward, CEO and founder of Legacy EV. “His passion for this custom car was contagious and we jumped at the chance to lend our EV expertise and parts to the project. As a leader in the EV space, it’s incredibly rewarding to work with Gas Monkey Garage, which confirms that Legacy EV is heading in the right direction and building the future of EV.”

“Testa” started as a 1989 Ferrari Testarossa, which was one of five featured in the 2021 movie, “Infinite”, starring Mark Wahlberg. Powered by a custom battery pack utilizing 36x KORE Power Modules and a Cascadia Motion iDM-190 Integrated module motor, the full EV conversion took about four months to complete. Gas Monkey Garage converted the classic European exotic car into a futuristic EV that is nearly 400 lbs. lighter and produces much more torque than the original drivetrain.

“Working with Rob Ward and his team at Legacy EV, we pushed the envelope on the conversion of this classic Ferrari,” said Richard Rawlings, CEO of Gas Monkey Garage. “I admit that my vision for an EV Testarossa was an unprecedented, boundary-pushing idea. But when I talked with Rob, we came up with an EV solution that really works. We broke the boundaries on this build, and the final product is a testament that the next wave of vehicle customization is embracing EV conversions.”

“Testa’s” EV customizations include:

  • Power: 225kW (300 horsepower)
  • Torque: 500Nm (386 ft. lbs)
  • Battery Pack: 84.6kWh utilizing 36x Kore Power Modules
  • Motor: Cascadia Motion iDM-190 Integrated Module
  • Charger: Dilong 6.6kW CCU
  • Charge Rate: 6.6kW, Level 1 & 2
  • Estimated Range: 170-225 miles
